Information and communication security is a challenging topic at the best of times. The 2005  International Conference on Information and Communications Security (ICICS'05) will be the seventh event in the ICICS conference series, started in 1997, that brings together researchers and scholars involved in multiple disciplines of Information and Communications Security in order to foster exchange of ideas. ICICS2005 will be sponsored and organized by the Institute of Software of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in co-operation with the China National Standard Committee of Information Security Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSFC), and China Computer Federation (CCF).
